Well, here we go again...Riders are great, their fans are great, why isn't the rest of the world as great as the Riders and their fans.
This is the sort of stuff that makes me want to puke. It's why I hate the Leafs and why I hate the Riders. I used to cheer for them as my #2 team. Our prairie brethren. The little guy. Now, they have risen to be the school yard bully. They are the CFLs version of the centre of the universe.
Right now, they have a great team, and their core fan base is excellent. It's the fringe group that have to be so over the top that drives everyone nuts.
Putting up billboards in opposing cities.
I have heard comments like "god clearly wants the Riders to win"...and these people believe that.
There are rare times that I wished I lived in Calgary rather than Edmonton...but if I was in Calgary it would be a much shorter drive down to Montana so that I could avoid that place on my way back to Winnipeg. _________________ Watching Milt score a 100 yard TD to beat the EE (Evil Empire) is THE football highlight of all time!
So great, because the Riders have been selling out their stadium for the past 20 years. It's not like they've been packed in because they're actually winning football games.
As for the advertising - a non-profit quasi government agency isn't supposed to turn a profit. Because the Riders are selling out like crazy & is has the best merchandise sales in the league, there is all kinds of money coming in. More money coming in = more money required to go out. The easiest way to do that is by advertising to death. At that point, it's completely ineffective, but they've got the money to burn. _________________ The lazier you are today, the more productive you'll be tomorrow.
There are few things in this world that make me barf... Riders and their fans just sicken me... to the point of barfing....
I honestly don't believe that they are that good... Its like they are riding some kind of weird green high or something, they gotta burn out sooner or later.
What really makes me barf... Is now its PROVEN the 3rd pic in the 07 grey cup didn't happen, it bounced off the turf yet it was the game changer, and thats why last years grey cup was soooooo sweet. _________________ 911 needs further investigation

The 3rd pic? It hit Johnson in the numbers... wasn't near the ground...

My bad.. the first of 3. Which resulted in 7 free points. I refer to it as the third because the other 2 actually happened.
Our fault for Berry not challenging the call though. _________________ 911 needs further investigation
Not looking for a fight here...but the only video I have seen was a diving int. From what I have seen there was no evidence it hit the ground... Where did this proof come from and are there pics? I'd be curious to see them.

And on the third and short for the first down, Joseph didn't make it over the marker until after the whistle had blown. The refs didn't have access to sound equipment back then, so I have no idea how they could have ruled conclusively that Joseph had crossed the first down marker before the whistle blew - it was super close as it was, let alone not knowing exactly when the whistle blew.
Not to mention that Berry tried to challenge the challenge, obviously an unreviewable action - but these things had been done at least 5 times throughout the season, including a few from the Riders. No penalties throughout the season, then all of a sudden we're nailed with a delay of game. Absolute BS. _________________ The lazier you are today, the more productive you'll be tomorrow.
I'll admit it looks close...but it also looks like his hands are under the ball as well so he could have had control of it. Not to say he did or didn't. I wonder if there was a challange, if there would have been enough proof to over turn the call..(always tough to over turn when there has to be conclusive evidence)..it's controversial yes...proof?...not so sure.

Anytime a receiver or DB traps the ball with the field it's almost always considered an incomplete pass. It was pretty close, I don't blame the refs for not seeing that one, as even TSN didn't notice it during the game.
For the Joseph first down conversion - that one was a gigantic mess up. _________________ The lazier you are today, the more productive you'll be tomorrow.
That looks conclusive. The nose of the ball hit the turf. Berry should have been fired a year earlier simply for missing that challenge. _________________ Watching Milt score a 100 yard TD to beat the EE (Evil Empire) is THE football highlight of all time!

I wasn't a big fan of Berry, but you really can't blame anyone - it happened so fast and the angles shown on the play on TSN & even the replays didn't show this one - it wasn't until after the game that Global showed this one.
IIRC there is something like four or five times the cameras for the Grey Cup, so obviously they aren't feeding all of them, or reviewing all of them before the next play starts. _________________ The lazier you are today, the more productive you'll be tomorrow.

#1, I think it's funny that someone is takin the time to post about this on here. Who cares?
#2, I would much rarely be hated for winning/being cocky etc then being the lovable loser...same reason Edmonton was hated by a lot of opposing fans for so long, and still are. _________________ go_green
imho, until you have championed a sport in a place in which it is ignored by the media or when it is mentioned it is made fun of... a place where your own "home" stadium is committed to the extermination of your team and fanbase in order to bring in it's football league of choice from down south... which is hard to get to (being in the very centre of a notoriously hard to drive through city) and has very little parking (and what parking there is is very expensive)...
you don't get to call yourself hardcore.
cheering for the team that everybody around you cheers for? that's easy. _________________ WWMO'SD? "I have reluctantly agreed to be essentially neutered"-D. Brown

The best things about all the Riders' hysteria is people like you complaining about it. Worry about your own backyard first, when you start packing your park every week and bringing in double the revenue that everyone else is, then you might get an article written about you on tsn.ca. _________________ http://reginainpictures.blogspot.com
