Anybody picking it up today? Anybody have it already?
After all the compliants I've read over the past couple months about the new features, I'm debating it...
Though being a huge fan of the original, I can see myself caving in. |

Grabbed it last night on my way home from drinks at the Pony since I noticed a crowd at Futureshop... Proceeded to play it until 6:30 AM.
Its pretty freakin' sweet. Has an awesome feel (like the original) with some great tweaks, additions, and features.
Good-bye life for the next few weeks... _________________ Hmm... |

I broke down and picked it up this afternoon.
Just like the original, with better graphics. Almost too good... my brand new laptop struggles to run it on moderate resolution, and I bought this thing to be able to handle it. Frustrating, but it still plays alright.
Not liking the no local multiplayer thing though... that was the only way I played the original the last several years. |

But with houses mostly having wi-fi connections now is there any need for the direct connection? If a friend brings over a laptop we would simple play over battle.net. OMG.. I feels so good to talk about battle.net again after all these years. |

My issue is that if I'm sitting at a table with a buddy on our laptops, I shouldn't have to worry about server lag or a total crash. If I wanted to worry about that, I'd go back to playing MW2 on Live.
Also, I discovered the answer to the graphics performance is to turn of shadow and light effects. Runs so much smoother.
Awesome game. |

Does the game require you to have the dvd in your drive everytime you want to play it? Or has that era passed? |

Do you have to type your password or does it save it and require you to only click and continue? _________________ IFeelAlright - "I like a little humour with my football discussions Nate. Let me know when you can supply either." |

The problem isn't with the game itself just the way it's being sold. Having to basically buy the game 3 times to get the complete game is bullshit of the highest level. I'm sure it's the usual great gameplay you'd expect from Blizzard but all the other BS is enough to make me not want to buy it. _________________ Mike Kelly is a cancer on this team |

I thought the same re: 3 seperate games, but I'm getting farther into the campaign, and it's way better than expected. A whole game devoted to one race means that the story progresses in details, you have a choice of which mission to do, and you can do some missions in different ways.
To my surprise, they also snuck in missons using the other races, which I didn't know about. I am hoping that the next 2 releases are add-ons, and aren't full price. Hoping...

they should give all 3 campaigns for the game though without needing to sell you the game 3 times. It's just a cash grab cause they know that people will pay it and it really bothers. I'm going to go ahead and blame activision though. It reeks of the big corporation who only cares about profits much more than it seems a blizzard idea. _________________ Mike Kelly is a cancer on this team |

I think you'd be right.
It is a cash grab... but at least they seemed to have made it worth it. As long as the next 2 aren't $60 each, I'll be less annoyed. |
