Good choice.

Working on FIFA we've had a few people that exploited a few issues within our game and the Ban Hammer dropped hardddd on these guys.
Nobody reads the fine print of the Xbox Live terms of service, better make sure you do if you plan to 'beat the system'.
There are plenty of ways for the development team to identify who are legitimate users and users playing a hacked version.

In terms of the game itself, I've played through a season at work and I do enjoy the game. A lot of nice usability improvements especially around play calling and the flow of the game.
Didn't get a chance to play the online team play portion, really excited to do that once the full version is out.

I have now played the demo and must say that the game feels a lot better than previous versions.

The Good:
- I feel like they've done an excellent job of adding more animations and algorithms which make the game feel more realistic. If you have a large runningback and he gets hit by a small linebacker it's more likely that you'll naturally bounce off of the linebacker. It feels like these types of exchanges have been vastly improved giving them more variety as well as a more realistic representation of real football.
- They have also improved the use of the second analog stick to give you more control over the ball carrier on offense. It's a lot more fun to run the football than in previous years. YAY!

The Bad:
- I hate the mode where they call the plays for your and the offensive co-orindator tells you what to do. This mode feels like it was made for beginners. Thankfully this mode can be completely turned off.

Rented Madden 11 this morning, played it for 10 minutes and shut it off and taking it back tonight. I've been playing Madden since I was a kid (93 was my first edition of Madden) and frankly I'd take a good round of Madden 93 over this travesty of a game. It's essentially a 70 dollar roster update with a few minor AI improvements to a still very weak overall AI system, and a carbon copied franchise and NFL superstar mode.

I thought the demo played nicely, better then last year that's for sure and I like how it calls plays for you. Avoids me from running deep pass plays every down.

Unfortunately the game still loves to gimp the defense and it's still easy to break out huge plays both on the run and pass.

Seem that not to many of the critics agree, did you at least try Online Team Play?

Hated the game. I remember one of the superstar modes had where you actually had a house and got to improve your player and he had goals and interviews and stuff. That's all gone and superstar mode is just pointless.
The game is horrible. Does anybody remember the franchise mode when you could set the prices on hot dogs, move stadiums build stadiums in that sort of thing? I thought at that time they were going in the right direction. I feel like this is just a roster update. Glad I rented before I purchased.

I totally hear you there, thats exactly what I am talking about. Ontop of that, you need to relocate to get a new stadium. If I choose to play as the Niners, I should be able to build a new stadium as their current one is a joke. I'm not sure if you played Head Coach 09 Cody, but I think if they structured franchise mode like how HC was in terms of scouting, drafting, free agents and what not, it would be a great step in the right direction

And for wishful thinking's sake....know how in NHL in Be A Player how you can spend time in the minors....wouldn't it be cool if Madden incorporated the CFL in Superstar mode so that if you go undrafted, are weak or whatever, that you can hone your skills in the CFL, and get a shot at an NFL club as a free agent?

I have and yes I know the critics think it is a good game - thats predictable. To the average gamer like myself. I personally prefer to read reviews from average gamers like myself, but again thats just a preference. I feel they give a better perspective on games than Joe Blow for IGN or whatever the case may be. Case in point, IGN rated Madden 8.0 on 10 while the reader reviews have given it an average of 5.7, mostly for the same issues that I have with it.

IMO, Madden started going downhill after it got the exclusive licensing deal with the NFL that stopped the 2K series from producing games. With no competition, why would EA be inspired to put that extra effort that they used to when they had competition to worry about?

Unfortunately it comes down to time more than anything.

The reality of it is that you can only choose a few major focuses each year...this year it looks like they went with Online Team Play (a feature not in Madden, when plenty of other EA titles have had it for a while) and general usability for the new user.

I'll agree that over the last 10 years, the franchise mode hasn't changed as much as it should, if any consolation, the other '11 titles I've played excel in this aspect. I do spend a lot of time in franchise mode, I'm keeping busy with my Bombers in NCAA 2011 to be completely honest. Wink

I complained about a lot of the same things before I started workin at EA, but once you understand what goes into these games, there is significant effort bringing iterative titles up to speed with all the latest technology shared with other EA games...it's not just updating rosters by any means Wink

While everyone is certainly entitled to their own opinion (and should reflect it with their wallet), it's tough to please everyone, as the end consumer will always ask for one thing...more Smile

I can't action on much Madden Feedback as they dont develop it in Vancouver, but if you guys have any comments on FIFA/NHL/NBA/Fight Night... I'd be certainly happy to pass it along appropriately.

NHL is a wicked game - awesome that you are a part of it.

Question regarding NCAA 11, I loved it, except for one problem. I'm a Georgia Tech fan, and as such use their triple option offense, however I found that in 11 VS previous editions, I would just get lit up by the D-Line before I even had a chance to decide to keep the ball or pitch it out - sometimes to the point where I snap the ball and I have a DT or DE waiting for me. Do you know if this has been fixed at all through a patch or anything?

I think I've come across what you've seen, not sure if its specific to GT. I think the game has a greater emphasis on hitting holes and making you pay for the wrong decision. I find that often when I try and pitch out the option the DL/DE picks it off as they fill that pitching lane pretty well. I don't get to the point where I cant hold the ball or choose the option tho, it sounds like you are just getting sacked without having the option to keep/pitch.

I just booted up the game and it looks like they released a patch and tuning update, so take a look again, maybe your in luck.

You could also go into the game settings/custom AI, and toggle down the rush defense for the CPU, or improve your user OL...honestly I'd rather tune it so that it's manageable, but still a challenge for me and sometimes some custom changes are necessary.

And honestly, leave some feedback within the EA forums. As soon as the game goes live, all developers get on the boards and fight the hot button issues everyone is facing, and try to address it with tuner updates/patches.

NCAA bugs link (you'll need to sign up for an account Wink )

You should search for my 360 Bomber team within team builder (username: munruh), and we should have ourselves a lil Blue and Gold matchup (3 down football, honor system that any fourth down is a qb kneel Smile )

Anyways...on this running/blocking/pressure issues, this reminds me of one of my favorite days at EA, truly a 'I cant believe I got paid to do this' moment.

Back in my first days at EA, as an entry level games tester, my first title was Madden 08 on the Wii.

My task for the day was to run all running plays within each teams playbooks, and verify that all lineman, WR's etc are following their proper blocking scheme....I dont know if there is a better way for someone obsessed about football to spend their days studying digital playbooks, then ripping it for 575 yards a game with Alexander or LT lol.

The other task I thoroughly enjoyed, was drafting fantasy teams, and pitting them against other testers fantasy teams, to see who could win the Superbowl first by simulating the entire season.

Man is it ****** awesome to get paid to do that...unfortunately as you get more responsibility you cant spend your days like that anymore Wink

I did play the head coach games and I enjoyed them much more than the madden. Madden 04 ( was it 04?) was the best game I have ever played. It had all those little things. I would love for you to send out my input on this.

It just seems to me like superstar is pointless. Yeah, so you signed a new four year deal worth x amount of dollars. So what? you can't do anything with it. I just think the game is lacking in that department especially.

As for the NHL, I found it was good. Much better than madden thats for sure.

Just got my hands on Madden, it's not too shabby of a game, I think its slowly regressing, as I thought last years was pitch perfect! I also noticed that in order to play online, you have to redeem a code found inside the box. Does this seem like it's going to be the norm now in order to turf modding?
